Avi Aisenberg is the Treasurer of the Cornell Club of Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University and stayed in Ithaca for several months after graduation to teach Mechatronics and work with Bill Nye (The Science Guy) to build the Solar Noon Clock, which currently sits on top of Rhodes Theory Center. He moved to Boston to be with his girlfriend at the time, Vicky, and got a job as the lead engineer at Engauge where he designed fire extinguisher monitoring systems. He moved to South Florida early in 2012 to take over the family business which manufactures plastic pallets, where he currently works as the CTO. In Avi’s most recent venture, however, he founded a distillery in Fort Lauderdale where he plans to distill rum and whiskey from South Florida grown ingredients once he obtains the liquor license. To stay up to date on his distillery, please visit www.southfloridadistillers.com.

Victoria Aisenberg (Vicky) currently serves on the Cornell Club of Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton board as the Co-Vice President and Social Media Chair. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Cornell University, where she met her husband Avi Aisenberg. After graduation, they moved just outside of Vicky’s hometown in Boston, where she began her career in Inside Sales at Demandware, an ecommerce software company. After two years enduring the cold weather, Vicky and Avi moved to South Florida for Avi to take over the family business. Today, Vicky works as a sales executive at Demandware, selling their Software as a Service platform to retailers and branded manufacturers in the Southeast. Outside of all the traveling, she helps Avi with his distillery and cares for their 2 year-old golden retriever named Basil.

We’ll all have drinks at Theodore Zinck’s…

You may be thousands of miles from Cornell, but on Thursday, October 16, you can feel just steps away from the hill by attending this year’s Spirit of Zinck’s event in Palm Beach Gardens.

Theodore Zinck was a saloonkeeper in Ithaca and his pub, the Hotel Brunswick, was a popular gathering place for Cornellians in the 1890s.  After his death in 1903, several bars using his name continued to provide a haven for students. When the last “Zinck’s” closed in the mid-60s, celebrating the spirit of Zinck’s became a favorite Thursday night Collegetown tradition of undergraduates.  It wasn’t long afterwards that Cornellians continued the tradition in their hometowns.  This year, alumni will celebrate this uniquely Cornell event in more than 90 cities around the world.  So wherever you are, remember your days at Cornell on October 16th.  Plan to celebrate Zinck’s Night with your Cornell friends.
